Momodu dumps PDP, joins ADC

Veteran journalist Dele Momodu has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing what he described as the hijacking of the party by antidemocratic forces.

In a letter dated July 17, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu said his decision to leave the party was taken with immediate effect.

Momodu, a former presidential aspirant under the PDP and publisher of Ovation International, has expressed appreciation to the party’s ward-level leadership for their steady support over the years.

His recent defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) signals a notable shift in Edo State’s political dynamics and adds to the growing wave of realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Having joined the PDP in 2021, Momodu was actively involved in party affairs and national discourse. His departure comes amid a series of resignations by high-profile members dissatisfied with the party’s internal politics.
