Refurbished N150bn presidential jet returns from South Africa

Nigeria’s newly acquired N150 billion presidential jet has returned to the country after spending several months in South Africa, where it underwent a full livery transformation into the national green-and-white colours.

The Airbus A330-200 was seen on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

Photos shared on Thursday by aviation-tracking Instagram account @Abuja_Aviation showed the twin-engine, wide-body aircraft — bearing the tail number 5N-FGA — parked at the Presidential Wing of the airport.

The jet features a predominantly white paint scheme, with green-white-green stripes running the length of the fuselage, along with the Nigerian Air Force crest emblazoned near the cockpit on both sides.

Both engine intakes were fitted with red protective covers, indicating that the aircraft was not ready for immediate departure at the time the images were captured.

A built-in airstair was deployed at the front left doorway, though no passengers were seen boarding or disembarking. However, a few ground staff were visible near the front wing and just behind the nose landing gear.
