Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has reaffirmed her intention to resume duties at the Senate on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in compliance with a court ruling—despite an appeal lodged by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
“I still have close to two months before the six months lapses. I’ve written again to the Senate, informing them of my intention to resume on the 22nd, which is Tuesday, by God’s grace,” she stated.
“I will be there, because the court issued a decision on the matter. While they argue it’s not an order, it remains a binding decision,” she added.
Currently in her constituency to oversee an empowerment training programme, Akpoti-Uduaghan explained that although her suspension did not hinder her constituency work, it significantly limited her legislative role, particularly in sponsoring bills and motions.
“Each senator has three core responsibilities: lawmaking, oversight of ministries and agencies, and representation. I’ve continued representing my people by identifying their needs and ensuring those needs are reflected in the federal budget. But yes, I’ve missed the opportunity to push bills on the Senate floor,” she said.
The senator confirmed that she has officially notified the Senate of her plans to return on Tuesday via a formal letter.
