Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, has denied any involvement by the Federal Government in the recent acquisition of about 25% of FirstHoldCo shares, reportedly worth over ₦323 billion.
The denial follows media claims that the transaction was executed through a government-backed Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), allegedly involving the Attorney General’s office and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In a statement issued by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Special Adviser on Communication and Publicity to the AGF, the reports were described as “false, misleading, resentful, and potentially harmful.”
“The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice debunks this falsehood to prevent confusion or misconceptions about FirstHoldCo’s ownership and governance,” Ogundele stated.
