The Lagos State Government has impounded over 10 articulated trucks for violating traffic restrictions on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The enforcement exercise, which began over the weekend, was carried out by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) after months of public awareness campaigns and sensitization efforts.
In a statement released on Sunday by Adebayo Taofiq, Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, the operation was described as a necessary step to uphold traffic regulations and ensure public safety.
Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, emphasized that the clampdown reflects the state’s commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure and ensuring strict adherence to traffic laws.
“The Third Mainland Bridge is explicitly prohibited for certain categories of articulated vehicles,” Giwa stated. “This restriction is backed by law, and any violation will attract strict penalties.”
He added that LASTMA officers have now commenced full enforcement, and all violators will face appropriate sanctions without exception.
