A petrol tanker explosion occurred in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday, July 17, around 6:30 p.m., involving a 33,000-litre fuel tanker and a private vehicle.
The incident took place at Celica Junction, near Adegbayi along New Ife Road. The explosion was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Akinyinka Akinyemi.
According to the statement, a crew of firemen led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent (ACFS) Adeniyi Adesina was promptly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the team found both the petrol tanker and the car fully engulfed in flames.
