At least 20 dead as Bangladesh Air Force Jet crashes into Dhaka school

A Bangladesh Air Force F-7 jet crashed into Milestone School and College in northern Dhaka on Monday, killing at least 20 people in what is now the country’s deadliest air incident in recent history.

The crash occurred at around 1:18 p.m. local time while students were attending afternoon classes. According to the military, a mechanical fault caused the jet to plunge into the two-story school building, leaving 171 others injured—most of them students currently receiving treatment in hospitals across the capital.

The military stated that the pilot attempted to steer the jet away from densely populated areas before the crash but was among the casualties.

Emergency responders were seen battling flames and searching through the wreckage. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
