New Russia-Ukraine Talks Set for Wednesday—Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine and Russia will resume peace talks on Wednesday in Turkey, following two earlier rounds in Istanbul that yielded little progress.

In his Monday address, Zelensky said he discussed preparations with Security Council chief Rustem Umerov, confirming the upcoming session. More details are expected Tuesday.

Despite previous talks on May 16 and June 2 under U.S. pressure, the sides only agreed to prisoner exchanges. Russia continues demanding Ukraine cede territory and abandon NATO ambitions — terms Kyiv rejects.

The renewed talks come after U.S. President Trump warned Russia of tougher sanctions within 50 days if no deal is reached. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that “a lot of diplomatic work lies ahead.”
