Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has revealed his final 23-man squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, which will take place from August 2nd to 30th across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The squad features a blend of seasoned local stars and exciting young talents, carefully selected for their skill and tactical fit.
Leading the team is captain and defensive rock Junior Harrison Nduka, along with forward Godwin Obaje, both chosen for their leadership and strong domestic performances.
Key players also include goalkeeper Ozoemena Ani; defenders Sodiq Ismaila and Stephen Mayo; midfielders Hadi Haruna and Alex Oyowah; and forwards Anas Yusuf, Sikiru Alimi, and Ijoma Anthony.
This well-rounded lineup aims to propel Nigeria towards its first-ever CHAN gold medal, building on past achievements of bronze in 2014 and silver in 2018.
The Super Eagles B squad is set to depart for Zanzibar on Thursday evening via Ethiopian Airlines. The players have been training intensively for weeks at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, preparing for the challenging regional competition.
Additionally, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has arranged a second training camp phase in Zanzibar from July 25th to 31st to help the team acclimatize ahead of the tournament. The squad will be based in official accommodation on the island during this period.
To sharpen their teamwork and readiness, Nigeria will play two friendly matches against the Zanzibar national team as part of their final preparations.
