The Nigerian Table Tennis team has once again asserted its dominance at the ITTF Africa Youth Championship, with both the U-15 and U-19 boys’ teams claiming gold in the team events.
Competing at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, the U-19 team, comprising Kuti Mathew, AbdulBasit AbdulFatai, Fabunmi Mathew, and Atunwon Quadri, mounted an impressive comeback from 0-2 down in the semifinals to defeat Egypt 3-2, and went on to edge out Tunisia by the same scoreline in a thrilling final.

In the U-15 category, the quartet of Joseph Marvelous, Adeoye Hussein, Adebakin Tobi, and Joseph Victor also secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Egypt to clinch the title.

This triumph marks Nigeria’s return to the top of African youth table tennis after falling short in 2024. Egypt and Algeria settled for bronze in the competition.
With the U-19 team’s win, Nigeria has secured a spot at the 2025 World Youth Championships in Romania.
