The Federal Government has begun rebuilding the collapsed Keffi Flyover in Nasarawa State, while fast-tracking major road infrastructure projects across the country.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, announced this after Thursday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
Describing the July 4 collapse as “very unfortunate,” Umahi confirmed that compensation had been agreed upon with the families of the three individuals who died in the incident.
“We lost three lives there. We’ve settled with the families, and they won’t be pursuing legal action. Reconstruction is already underway,” he said.
He also noted that one carriageway has been closed to allow urgent repairs after structural assessments revealed potential risks.
The Keffi Flyover serves as a vital connection between Abuja, Nasarawa, and other areas in Nigeria’s north-central region.
Umahi added that the FEC has approved funding and adjustments for several key road and bridge projects across the country.
