President Bola Tinubu on Saturday extended heartfelt birthday wishes to former Vice President and elder statesman Namadi Sambo as he marked his 71st birthday.
Born on August 2, 1954, Sambo served as Nigeria’s Vice President from May 19, 2010, to May 29, 2015, after previously holding office as Governor of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2010.
In a statement titled “President Tinubu Felicitates Former Vice President Sambo on His Birthday” and signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Sambo as a distinguished architect and a man of unwavering integrity.
The president praised Sambo for his loyalty and steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s unity and stability. He noted that during his tenure as vice president, Sambo served with dedication and mutual respect alongside then-President Goodluck Jonathan, playing a key role within the People’s Democratic Party.
President Tinubu also acknowledged Sambo’s enduring leadership and contributions to national and regional affairs, highlighting his role in promoting peace and religious harmony in Kaduna State, as well as his support for the current governor, Senator Uba Sani.
In addition to his domestic contributions, Sambo has continued to serve the region, leading ECOWAS election observation missions, including the December 2024 presidential election in Ghana and earlier missions in Niger in 2020 and 2021.
President Tinubu concluded his message by wishing Sambo continued good health and many more years of meaningful service to Nigeria and West Africa.
