Resident doctors at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have commenced an indefinite strike, citing the failure of both the hospital management and the state government to resolve their longstanding demands.
The doctors had earlier suspended a one-month strike on April 8, allowing time for the authorities to meet their requests. However, three months later, they issued a fresh ultimatum to the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Prof. Olawale Olakulehin, in a letter dated July 8, 2025.
Titled “Re: Notice of Industrial Action,” the letter noted that the doctors’ congress granted a three-week grace period to enable the government and management to act on the unresolved issues, with formal notices sent to all relevant stakeholders.
While the doctors acknowledged partial progress—such as payment of upgrade arrears and refunds of exam fees—they expressed disappointment over the persistent non-implementation of several key demands, prompting the renewed strike action.
