K1 De Ultimate apologises over airport incident, denies alcohol allegation

Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has issued a public apology following the incident that occurred at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on August 5, 2025.

In a statement personally signed and released on Friday, the veteran musician expressed regret over the controversy but firmly denied claims that he carried alcohol in a flask, insisting it contained only water.

“The incident at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate,” he said. “Many may not be aware that I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor has advised me to stay constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask.”

He clarified that the flask in question was empty during two security screenings and was only filled with water at the airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac. K1 also emphasized that he had not yet boarded the aircraft, refuting reports that he was deboarded, and invited authorities to verify his account via CCTV footage.

The Fuji legend extended his apology to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet, and the Nigerian public.

“I sincerely regret any concern the incident may have caused,” he said. “It was never my intention to cause disruption or breach aviation regulations. My dedication and loyalty to Nigeria have never been in question, and I would never act in a way that damages the reputation I’ve built over the past 50 years.”

K1 reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Nigerian culture through music and thanked his fans for their continued support.
