The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to working closely with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to improve road safety throughout the territory.
Odumosu pledged on Friday during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed FRSC Sector Commander in the FCT, Felix Theman, to the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja.
Describing the visit as a reaffirmation of the longstanding collaboration between both agencies, the commandant emphasized the need for a unified approach to ensure safety and security on roads across the FCT.
According to a statement by the NSCDC spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, Odumosu stated, “The safety and security of all FCT residents remain our top priority, and we will continue to collaborate with relevant government agencies entrusted with these responsibilities.”
He further assured, “We are committed to supporting your personnel in the field and will stand by them in cases of harassment or attacks by unruly road users.”
Odumosu stressed the importance of collective responsibility in reducing road accidents and promoting responsible road use.
“As road users, we all have a role to play in upholding law and order to reduce crashes, save lives, and protect our road infrastructure,” he said.
In response, Commander Theman commended the NSCDC FCT Command for its visible contributions to security under Odumosu’s leadership.
He announced the recent launch of FRSC’s “Operation Restore Sanity” within the FCT, targeting the issue of one-way driving, especially in high-traffic areas. Theman appealed for NSCDC’s support in ensuring the initiative’s success.
He also reaffirmed FRSC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two agencies at all levels.
