Son Sparks LAFC Comeback in 2-2 Draw Against Chicago Fire

South Korean star Son Heung-min made a lively MLS debut for LAFC on Saturday, helping his team secure a 2-2 draw against Chicago Fire.

Coming on as a second-half substitute, Son won a crucial penalty in the 77th minute after being fouled by Carlos Teran, which Denis Bouanga converted in the 81st minute. VAR confirmed the foul after initial play continued.

“It was definitely a penalty. No doubt,” Son said post-match. “A bit disappointed not to get the win, but happy with my debut.”

Son, formerly Tottenham’s captain, had several attempts on goal, including a blocked shot in stoppage time. He joined LAFC on Wednesday for a reported MLS record fee of $26 million after scoring 173 goals in 454 appearances for Spurs.
