APC pledges to retire Amaechi and Omehia from politics after 2027

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State has announced its intention to retire former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia from active politics after the 2027 general elections.

This declaration was made by Obinna Ekem, Director-General of the Ikwerre APC Campaign Organisation for the August 30 local government elections, during the party’s final campaign rally in Omagwa community on Sunday.

Ekem voiced strong confidence in the APC’s chances of winning all 13 wards in the upcoming council polls, citing overwhelming support from residents as a sign of certain victory.

He added that beyond the local elections, the party was already focused on securing a sweeping win in 2027, assuring that President Bola Tinubu would triumph despite the opposition alliance led by Amaechi and Omehia.

Ekem emphasised that the Ikwerre LGA remains a stronghold of the APC, even though it is home to both Amaechi and Omehia, who are part of the opposition coalition.
