Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has called on the Awujale Chiefs in Council to ensure a fair and transparent process in selecting the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
This comes after the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona on July 13, 2025, at the age of 91, following a 65-year reign.
Speaking after a meeting with the Chiefs in Council in Iperu, Governor Abiodun emphasized the need to fill the vacant royal stool promptly, noting that “nature abhors a vacuum.”
He also assured that his administration would fully support whoever is selected by the kingmakers at the end of the nomination process.
