Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has hailed the merger of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) structure into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it a show of “unity and foresight.”
The announcement was made at a coalition meeting held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, and chaired by El-Rufai himself. According to a statement by the coalition’s Publicity Secretary, Darius Kurah, the gathering brought together major political stakeholders, including ADC and SDP leaders, former commissioners, and representatives from the PDP.
However, the SDP has raised concerns, pushing back against the development, suggesting internal disagreement over the purported merger.
