LAUTECH Medical School Shut as Strike Enters Fourth Week

The College of Health Sciences at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) remains closed as the indefinite strike by the Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) enters its 26th day.

In a joint statement, NAMDA LAUTECH Chairman, Prof. Michael Olamoyegun, and Secretary, Dr. Ayobami Alabi, accused the university management of failing to implement the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and pay arrears dating back to January 2025.

Despite repeated meetings and documented evidence presented to management, the union says only empty promises have followed, leading to mounting frustration among staff and disruption to students’ academic and clinical training.

The association warned that all services would remain suspended until their demands are met and called on the Oyo State Government, LAUTECH Governing Council, and stakeholders to urgently intervene.
