Lamine Yamal opened the scoring for Barca from a controversial penalty, but Rayo hit back through Fran Perez after the break and looked the more threatening late on.
Goalkeeper Joan Garcia made key saves to keep Barca level, as Hansi Flick’s side struggled despite several lineup changes. Barcelona now sit fourth, two points behind leaders Real Madrid.
