Solomon Ehigiator Arase, Nigeria’s 18th Inspector-General of Police, has died at the age of 69. He passed away at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja.
Arase, a respected police officer and lawyer, served as IGP from April 2015 to June 2016, and later chaired the Police Service Commission until June 2024. He also held several top positions in the force and was involved in UN peacekeeping in Namibia.
The seasoned officer held degrees in law, political science, and strategic studies, and was widely known for his intelligence and leadership.
As of now, no official statement has been released by his family or the police force.
