The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has presented certificates of return to all the chairmen-elect and vice chairmen-elect who won in the state’s local government elections.
RSIEC Chairman, Dr. Michael Odey, handed over the certificates at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
Councillors who won in the various wards also received their certificates of return.
For the first time since 1999, the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 20 out of the 23 local government areas in the oil-rich state, while the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured only three.
