Abuja-Kaduna Rail tracks to be fixed in 10 Days – Minister of Transportation

Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, has assured that repair works on the damaged Abuja–Kaduna rail tracks will be completed within 10 days.

Speaking to journalists on Monday after inspecting the derailment site near Asham Station, Alkali said teams from the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) have been working round-the-clock to restore service as quickly as possible.

The incident, which occurred last Tuesday, damaged sections of the rail track and affected coaches on a Kaduna-bound train.

Alkali praised the efforts of NRC staff, security agencies, and stakeholders for their swift response and dedication to passenger safety.

“I thank President Bola Tinubu for his immediate support after the incident. I also commend the NRC MD and his team who have been on site day and night,” he said.

The minister added that a full investigative team, including engineers from the Ministry of Transportation, the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), and civil rights groups, is currently assessing the cause of the derailment.

He declined to speculate on the investigation’s outcome but assured Nigerians that justice would be done.
