A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has ordered a DNA test to be conducted on Liam Aloba, the son of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The ruling was delivered on Tuesday by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga, following a paternity suit filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba. The court directed that the DNA tests be carried out in a recognised and accredited hospital, either in Nigeria or abroad.
Listed as the respondent in the case is Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, Mohbad’s wife. The application was filed under relevant provisions of the Family Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) 2012 and the Magistrate Courts (Civil Procedure) Rules 2009.
Joseph Aloba requested that the Chief Medical Officer or Chief Pathologist at the Military Hospital in Yaba, where Mohbad’s remains are being kept, extract tissue, hair, or any suitable sample from the deceased to conduct the DNA test on Liam.
The test aims to determine the paternity of the child, a matter that has been at the centre of public speculation since the singer’s death.
