First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has empowered 500 women in Oyo State with N50,000 each as part of the Women Economic Empowerment Programme under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The N25 million grant was disbursed on Monday at an event in Ibadan, with the First Lady represented by the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde.
The grant, not a loan, aims to help small-scale women business owners recapitalise their existing businesses and boost their capacity to support their families and communities.
Tinubu praised the Tony Elumelu Foundation for donating N1 billion to the initiative, enabling 18,500 women across Nigeria—including 500 in each state and the FCT—to benefit from the programme.
