The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement was made in a statement by the outgoing police spokesman, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who has been redeployed to the Delta State Police Command.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D., has approved the appointment of CSP Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer,” the statement read.
In his remarks, the IGP tasked Hundeyin with using his extensive background in communications and security to strengthen the Force’s public engagement and maintain effective, positive relations with the public.
Until his new appointment, Hundeyin served as the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command since 2022. He now takes over the national role from Adejobi.
CSP Hundeyin holds a BA (Hons) in English Language from Lagos State University and an MSc in Legal Criminology & Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He is also an associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), a member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).
His previous assignments include serving as the Public Relations Officer for Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, and representing Nigeria in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan (UNAMID) in 2020.
