The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has teamed up with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to streamline identity and voter registration processes nationwide.
INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, expressed his support for the collaboration during a visit by NIMC Director-General, Abisola Kukar, and her team to INEC’s headquarters in Abuja. He praised the ongoing partnership between the two federal bodies.
Yakubu noted that the joint effort has the potential to significantly enhance Nigeria’s electoral system, highlighting that INEC and NIMC together manage the country’s largest biometric databases—INEC for elections and NIMC for national identity.
The update was shared in a statement posted Wednesday on NIMC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
