Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva is grieving the passing of her elder brother, John Olabiyi Silva, who died on August 29, 2025, at the age of 72.
Silva announced his death in a heartfelt Instagram post on Thursday, honoring his memory and their strong sibling bond.
“With acceptance of God’s sovereign will, we announce the call to glory of my dear brother, John Olabiyi Silva… Long John Silva… Bros B… Uncle B… my easygoing brother. Rest in peace. January 22nd, 1953 – August 29th, 2025,” she wrote.
His passing comes amid personal challenges for Silva, including caring for her husband, veteran actor Olu Jacobs, who has been living with dementia in recent years.
Although not in the public eye like his sister, John Olabiyi Silva was fondly known by several affectionate nicknames—“Long John Silva,” “Bros B,” and “Uncle B”—reflecting the deep love and admiration he shared with family and friends.
