Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta loses son

Veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta is in mourning following the tragic loss of his son.

The 54-year-old shared the heartbreaking news via his Instagram page on Saturday, posting a photo of the late child along with a brief message. While he did not disclose the cause or circumstances surrounding his son’s death, the emotional post read:

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”

The post quickly drew an outpouring of condolences from colleagues, fans, and fellow actors, who filled the comment section with messages of sympathy and prayers.

This tragedy comes just days after another painful loss rocked the Nollywood industry — the death of Ayomikun, the only son of veteran actress Peju Ogunmola. Ayomikun, said to be in his early 30s, reportedly passed away in Ibadan earlier in the week.

The two losses have cast a somber mood over the Nollywood community, with many expressing shock over the back-to-back bereavements.

Ibrahim Chatta had previously opened up in June about the painful memory of losing his first child — a daughter — due to poverty and lack of access to adequate healthcare. He revealed that at the time, he couldn’t afford a coffin and was forced to bury her in an old wooden Coca-Cola crate.

“I couldn’t give her a proper burial. I didn’t even have money for a coffin,” he had said in a deeply emotional recount.

Now, with the death of another child, the actor is once again facing unimaginable grief.
