Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire entrepreneur Femi Otedola, has updated her surname to Ajibade on Instagram, days after completing a series of lavish wedding ceremonies with Afrobeats artist Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi.
On Friday, Temi posted a photo from their wedding on her Instagram page with the caption:
“Mr and Mrs Ajibade.”
Her profile name on the verified account now reads “Temiloluwa Ajibade”, confirming the name change—a move that has sparked wide-ranging reactions online.
Mr Eazi, whose full name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music executive. The couple tied the knot in August 2025, hosting wedding events across Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland—blending traditional and modern ceremonies in a global celebration.
Temi recently revealed that their civil wedding took place quietly on May 9, 2025—her mother-in-law’s birthday—in Monaco, writing:
“Let’s go back to the very start… On May 9th 2025, Mummy Ajibade’s Birthday, we had our Court Wedding in Monaco, exactly how we always imagined. Just the two of us. Love is Eazi Begins.”
Following the announcement and name change, celebrities including Davido, Simi, Veekee James, Toke Makinwa, Shallipopi, DJ Cuppy, Tacha, and Adesua Etomi flooded the comments with congratulations.
Despite the joyful occasion, Temi’s decision to take her husband’s surname reignited conversations on identity and feminism in Nigerian society. Many social media users debated whether high-profile women should retain their maiden names or adopt their partner’s name after marriage.
Some had expected Temi to continue using the Otedola name, either independently or in a hyphenated format, considering her public profile and influential family background.
The discussion mirrored an earlier viral post from feminist commentator @omo_kosoko, who had argued against societal pressure for women to change their surnames post-marriage, sparking renewed debate around autonomy and cultural norms.
Adding his voice during the traditional wedding, Femi Otedola offered a message rooted in tradition:
“You have to succumb to your husband; he’s your boss. Temi, I wish you all the best in your future endeavours. You found a great guy. Very great guy. Blessed guy. He comes from a very decent family.”
While some viewed his remarks as a father’s warm blessing, others critiqued them as reinforcing patriarchal expectations in marriage.
Regardless of public opinions, Temi and Mr Eazi have continued to share cherished moments from their union, cementing their status as one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity couples—a partnership at the intersection of music, film, fashion, and business.
