First Lady disburses ₦47m, Laptops to 47 scholarship beneficiaries

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday awarded ₦1 million each and brand-new laptops to 47 students under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) scholarship scheme, totaling ₦47 million.

The beneficiaries, drawn from various tertiary institutions nationwide, are studying diverse courses including medicine, law, engineering, agriculture, and the humanities.

Speaking at the event in Abuja, Mrs. Tinubu clarified that the initiative was not politically driven but rooted in her commitment to education and youth empowerment. She urged the students to cultivate additional skills to support themselves and stay productive.

“This is not about politics; it is about people’s lives,” she said, sharing her own story of entrepreneurship before public service.

She assured that the scheme will continue, hoping the President earns a second term to ensure its sustainability.

Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, lauded the effort, describing it as a valuable complement to government educational initiatives.
