Nepal descended into chaos on Tuesday as angry protesters torched the nation’s parliament and government buildings, following the resignation of Prime Minister Sharma Oli.
The unrest, led largely by Gen Z demonstrators, was triggered by a controversial ban on social media and longstanding frustrations over corruption and governance.
At least 19 people were killed in Monday’s rallies — one of the deadliest crackdowns in recent years — further fuelling public outrage.
Protesters, some armed and chanting victory slogans, overran parts of Kathmandu as the military warned of looming instability in the country of 30 million.
Amnesty International reported the use of live ammunition by security forces during the crackdown.
