NUPENG suspends strike as Union reaches agreement with Dangote Refinery

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has officially suspended its planned strike following a breakthrough agreement with Dangote Refinery to recognise workers’ rights to unionise.

The deal was sealed at a closed-door meeting convened by the DSS and attended by key stakeholders, including the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and NLC representatives.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the meeting affirms that employees at Dangote Refinery who wish to unionise will be free to do so, in line with Nigeria’s labour laws.

A formal statement from the Ministry of Labour is expected soon.
