Nigeria’s sprint queen and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, claimed silver in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Amusan finished in 12.29 seconds, narrowly behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who won gold with a surprise national record time of 12.24 seconds.
American Grace Stark took bronze with a time of 12.34 seconds, while Olympic champion Masai Russell of the USA finished fourth in 12.44 seconds.
The race featured a star-studded lineup including Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, but it was Kambundji’s unexpected win that stole the spotlight.
Amusan, who won the world title in 2022 in Eugene, where she set the current world record of 12.12 seconds, continues to prove her consistency at the top level of global athletics.
