The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has issued a warning to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), demanding immediate settlement of its ₦949.88 million outstanding electricity debt as of August 2025, or risk disconnection from the national grid.
In a statement released Monday by Sani Bala, Head of Corporate Communications, KEDCO also requested prompt payment of the August electricity bill of ₦108.95 million, giving the hospital 10 working days to comply.
“The hospital has an outstanding liability of ₦949.88 million as at the end of August. It is expected to settle the August bill of ₦108.95 million in full within 10 working days, or the company will decide on its next action,” Bala stated.
He expressed concern over the persistent non-payment, especially from the hospital’s residential quarters, noting that no payment has been made for electricity consumed in the complex, which negatively affects KEDCO’s operations and ability to deliver services.
The company stressed that continued default may lead to service interruption as part of debt recovery efforts.
