Suspected armed bandits have abducted around 40 worshippers from a mosque in Gidan Turbe village, located in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The abduction occurred in the early hours of Monday during dawn prayers, when the attackers reportedly surrounded the mosque and forcefully took the worshippers.
Local sources revealed that the victims were taken into the forest near the Gohori axis in Tsafe LGA.
In a separate but related incident, another group of armed men attacked Dogon Daji village, also in Tsafe LGA, where they killed the village head.
According to residents, the assailants had initially tried to abduct the community leader, but he resisted, leading to his death.
Attempts to get an official statement from the Zamfara State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, did not respond to calls as of the time of this report.
