The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the aftermath of the recent building collapse in Ebute Metta.
Speaking at the scene, LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said investigations were underway to determine the exact cause of the incident, including material testing and structural analysis by relevant authorities.
“We don’t want a repeat of such tragedies. That’s why we’ve deployed all necessary agencies to carry out thorough investigations,” he said, urging Lagosians to support the government by complying with building regulations.
While confirming rescue efforts, Oke-Osanyintolu revealed that six persons have been rescued alive, while four fatalities were recorded. He stressed that the operation was ongoing with full deployment of equipment and emergency personnel.
He also assured the public of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s continued commitment to enforcing building standards and ensuring safety across the state.
