Authorities have announced that the suspect accused of murdering prominent US conservative activist Charlie Kirk will be charged in a Utah court on Tuesday.
Kirk, a close supporter of former President Donald Trump and founder of the influential conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was fatally shot last week during a speaking event at a Utah university.
According to officials, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson fired a single bullet from a rifle, striking Kirk in the neck from a rooftop. Robinson was apprehended following a 33-hour manhunt.
Kirk, a father of two, had built a significant following on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, where he promoted conservative viewpoints and vocally opposed the transgender rights movement.
Known for his polarizing presence, Kirk frequently shared edited clips from debates at his numerous college events.
FBI Director Kash Patel has faced criticism over his handling of the case, particularly for prematurely announcing the arrest of a different suspect, who was then released two hours later.
