INEC Warns Public to Beware of Fake Job Offers

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has strongly cautioned the public to disregard a fake recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media.

In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, the Commission debunked the misleading notice, which falsely claims that INEC is conducting a recruitment exercise for multiple positions.

According to the Commission, the fraudulent advert directs unsuspecting applicants to a bogus website—inecrecruitment.com.com—to submit their personal information.

“Our attention has been drawn to a fake advertisement currently making the rounds on social media, falsely suggesting that INEC is recruiting for various positions,” the statement read.

The statement further revealed that the individual behind the fraudulent recruitment scheme directed unsuspecting applicants to a fake website—inecrecruitment.com—to complete their applications. INEC clarified that it has no affiliation with the said portal and does not operate any such website.

The Commission emphasized that it is not currently conducting any recruitment exercise and urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to the scam.

“The Commission urges the general public to disregard this deceptive advertisement. INEC is not recruiting. Do not be misled by the actions of criminal elements,” the statement concluded.
