The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE Internal), just 54 days after the final paper was written.
Announcing the release during a press conference in Minna, Niger State, NECO Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed that a total of 1,358,339 candidates sat for the June/July 2025 examination. Out of this number, 818,492 candidates—representing 60.26%—secured five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.
He further disclosed that 1,144,496 candidates, accounting for 84.26%, obtained five credits and above regardless of whether English and Mathematics were included.
According to Wushishi, “The number of candidates who registered for the exam stood at 1,367,210, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females. Those who actually sat for the examination were 1,358,339, made up of 680,292 males and 678,047 females.”
He added, “A total of 818,492 candidates (60.26%) achieved five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, while 1,144,496 candidates (84.26%) attained five credits and above in all subjects, irrespective of the core subjects.”
The 2025 SSCE was conducted from Monday, June 16 to Friday, July 25, 2025.
Wushishi also highlighted that 1,622 candidates with special needs participated in the exam. Among them were 586 males and 355 females with hearing impairments, as well as 111 males and 80 females with visual impairments.
On examination malpractice, the registrar reported a significant drop in cases. In 2025, 3,878 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice, compared to 10,094 in 2024—marking a 61.58% reduction.
