Former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, is being installed today as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland at the age of 81.
The historic event is held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
He succeeds the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin (the 43rd Olubadan), who passed away on July 7, 2025
Oba Ladoja ‘s ascension is considered historic, as he is the first person to have served as both a Senator and a State Governor before ascending the Olubadan throne. It also marks the culmination of Ladoja’s long journey through the traditional 22-step Ibadan chieftaincy hierarchy.
The event attracts prominent dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Markets in the metropolis are closed for the event, while the Police Command in the state has also closed a few roads adjoining the venue of the programme, to ease traffic flow for guests.
