Russian strikes injure 10 in Ukraine amid overnight barrage

Russia launched a massive overnight air assault on Ukraine, deploying “hundreds” of drones and missiles that left at least 10 people injured, Ukrainian officials said on Sunday.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga described the strikes as targeting multiple cities while residents slept, causing significant damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. He shared videos of burning apartment blocks, calling the attacks another round of terror on Ukrainian soil.

In response to the assault, neighbouring Poland scrambled jets to secure its airspace, highlighting rising tensions in the region.

The strikes come just after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that Ukraine had received a U.S.-made Patriot air defence system from Israel, aimed at bolstering Kyiv’s defence against Russian aerial attacks.

Russia’s latest barrage also follows its warning to NATO against escalating its response to alleged violations of alliance airspace.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed a “massive” attack on the capital and urged residents to remain in shelters.
