Alhaji Amadu Danfulani, a prominent leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Gobirawa Ward, Dala Local Government Area of Kano State, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Gobirawa, regarded as the largest electoral ward in Nigeria with the highest number of polling units, witnessed a significant political shift as Danfulani led thousands of his followers into the APC on Tuesday.
Speaking at the defection ceremony, Danfulani expressed disappointment with the leadership of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and its founder, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He also criticized the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State for what he described as anti-people policies and programmes.
“We can no longer continue under a political movement that has deviated from the interests of the people,” Danfulani stated.
The formal defection event was held at the Kano State APC Headquarters, located along Hotoro–Maiduguri Road.
The decampees were received by senior APC officials, including the APC Zonal Chairman for Kano Central, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu Ungoggo, who represented the State Party Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas. Also present was Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA).
The party leaders described the defection as a major boost for the APC in Kano and pledged to work closely with the new members to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence.
