President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for a comprehensive investigation into the death of Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise Television.
Maduagwu tragically lost her life on Sunday during an armed robbery at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the journalist’s untimely death.
“Ms. Maduagwu was a talented and promising journalist whose life was cut short in a cruel and unacceptable act,” Tinubu stated.
He directed security and law enforcement agencies to carry out a swift and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
The President also extended his condolences to Maduagwu’s family, colleagues at Arise News, and the wider media community, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.
