The event, presented by FirstBank, marks the African debut of the E1 Championship, the world’s first all-electric powerboat racing series.
The qualifying round set the tone for an electrifying weekend, as Team Rafa edged out Team Brady and Aoki Racing in a high-octane session that thrilled spectators and lifted Nadal’s team to the top of the championship standings.

E1 Championship Founder and CEO Rodi Basso described the Lagos round as a landmark moment for motorsport in Africa and a significant step in the series’ global expansion.
“The warm welcome in Lagos has been incredible,” Basso said. “The passion of Nigerians made this historic E1 Lagos GP possible. Our ambition is to build a motorsport legacy in Africa. This weekend is just the beginning.”

The Lagos Grand Prix is the penultimate round of the E1 season, with the finale set to take place in Miami later this year. The event has attracted thousands of fans to the Marina waterfront, with excitement sweeping across the city.
Among the dignitaries expected at the event are African football icon Didier Drogba and his partner Gabrielle Lemaire, who played a key role in bringing the E1 Series to Africa. Drogba will be supporting his own team, Team Drogba Global Africa.
