The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has kicked off its nationwide verification exercise for private tour operators in preparation for the 2026 Hajj and Umrah operations.
The exercise follows the recent inauguration of the Committee on Licensing and Verification of Private Tour Operators by NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, at the Hajj House in Abuja.
The committee is tasked with assessing both licensed and intending tour operator companies for accreditation. The verification began in Kano State and is being carried out by NAHCON’s Tour Operators Unit under the Operations, Inspectorate, and Licensing Department (OILS).
According to the Commission’s spokesperson, Shafii Mohammed, the team is visiting company offices to inspect their facilities, documents, staffing, and compliance with NAHCON’s guidelines.
The commission emphasized that the exercise is designed to promote transparency, ensure operational readiness, and guarantee that only credible and financially capable companies are licensed to manage pilgrim services in line with Saudi Arabia’s standards.
