The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has officially launched a cashless policy at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, aimed at enhancing transparency, blocking revenue leakages, and improving passenger experience.
The policy, which took effect on September 29, 2025, marks the beginning of a nationwide rollout to phase out cash transactions at all FAAN revenue points — including access gates, car parks, and VIP lounges — by Q1 2026.
FAAN MD, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, represented by Ms. Adebola Agunbiade, said the transition to electronic payments would streamline airport operations, eliminate delays, and boost internal revenue generation through improved accountability.
The initiative is expected to extend to all FAAN-managed airports in the coming months.
