As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its governorship primary in Ekiti State, scheduled for October 27, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) has disqualified one of the aspirants, Kayode Ojo.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already set the Ekiti governorship election date for July 20, 2026.
APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, made the announcement on Thursday during a press briefing in Abuja. He confirmed that Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo had been cleared to participate in the party’s primary election.
Meseko said, “The NWC reviewed the report of the APC Ekiti State governorship screening committee. The following aspirants were cleared to contest in the primary: Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo.
“The following aspirants were disqualified: Engr. Kayode Ojo and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi.”
He also announced that the party’s National Reconciliation Committee, to be chaired by Chief Bisi Akande, would be inaugurated soon. Additionally, the timetable for APC congresses nationwide is expected to be released shortly.
Meseko further disclosed that the APC Constitution Amendment Committee will begin public hearings in October 2025, and the Anambra State Governorship Campaign Council will also be inaugurated soon.
