Dr. Christopher Kolade, a respected Nigerian statesman, diplomat, and broadcaster, has passed away at the age of 93. His family confirmed his death in a statement issued on Wednesday.
“We are grateful for his remarkable life of faith and dedicated service, and we thank God for His abundant blessings,” the statement read in part.
Dr. Kolade died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Born on December 28, 1932, in Erin-Oke, Osun State, Dr. Kolade built a legacy across multiple fields—as a diplomat, academic, and staunch advocate for integrity and corporate governance.
The son of an Anglican missionary, he attended Government College, Ibadan, for his secondary education before proceeding to Fourah Bay College in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Throughout his lifetime, he received several honorary doctorate degrees, including from McPherson University in 2016 and the University of Sierra Leone in 1976.
A special documentary celebrating his life and work aired just over a year ago on the programme Amazing Africans.
